There are as many types of physical activity or exercise programs as there are people. RMH Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Stewart Pollock advises his patients to pick a variety of activities that they enjoy. I think this is great advice especially for those who struggle with boredom or just getting the time in.
I learn a lot from Heart Check participants.
The journey towards cardiovascular disease (heart attack, stroke, elevated blood pressure) prevention seems complex and simple at the same time. I think this because living to stay well depends on several factors, heredity, environment, individual choice and lifestyle habits. Personal stories of challenge, problem solving and overcoming barriers towards a healthier heart amaze me.

I met a Heart Check participant recently who said, “I don’t drink calories. If I want a calorie, I am going to eat it.” I chuckled at the time. This comment makes me think about mindless and quickly ingested calories in regular sodas, specialty coffees or sugared sport drinks.
